  Here's the wash-up as I see it:

  ACROSS. 1A. Containment of "he is shortly" = HE'S in "court" = CT. 5A. Hidden reversed in andrOIDARchitecture. 6A. Even letters in "strange". 7A. "Cruel" = MEAN + last letter of "insult".

  DOWN. 1D. Containment of "liquor" = RUM in "empty club" = CB. 2D. Deletion of "Trump's first" = T from "Tea Party host" = HATTER. 3D. Homophone of "waves" = SINES. 4D 8A. "Excessively" = TOO, containment of "busy at first" = B in "singer" = THRUSH.
