The answer to the meta is comprised of two words with eight letters in total
Here's a puzzle for any music fans out there! This turned out to be a difficult meta to put together. Hopefully there are enough signposts for you to get to the meta answer, which is comprised of two words with eight letters in total. Check out "The MOAT Mini Pack of Marching Bands" here: https://www.ephesusscroll.com/about/interest4.html. US$5 gets you 7 Marching Bands which, hard enough on their own, now contain metas too. And once again there's a mega-meta!

Tricky, but nicely done. I was missing one, which I guess was Omi.
Fun! Even for one who, like me, has little knowledge of pop music.
Darth 🤓7:52 · 2022-10-11T14:55:42.741Z
I wasn't familiar with the two middle artists, but learned some new names! Thanks, Ben!
Hector 9:39 · 2022-10-11T15:00:31.123Z
Thanks, Ben! Are the R and O "dropped"?
Hector 9:39 · 2022-10-11T15:25:10.260Z
Never mind! Darth's message led me to google more assiduously

Symmetry and Google helped.

Was totally stumped by Omi- even after seeing the symmetry... I started googling MIS, OMIS, ROMIS... I didn't drop the S. Whoops! Fortunately, I noticed the other letters and was able to get NAME for the artists that took up a whole answer, and DRP for the ones that didn't... wasn't too hard to get to the O for NAME DROP at that point! Good puzzle. Glad I stuck with it and figured it out!
Not sure I'd ever get this and not sure I get it now.
What about the hidden names (of whom I only have Dido [someone had to tell me she existed] and Pink [I knew she existed but someone had to tell me she was hidden] are the only ones I know-- I'm guessing/assuming there is an R and an O somewhere) was to lead us to consider the "in plain sight" were unconventionally actually part of the puzzle?

I just saw the RZA in the grid that I somehow missed while solving… and I was literally listening to the Wu-Tang at the time…
