Here's a question for constructors: When I publish the puzzle, I get a warning saying, "Some letters are unchecked and the puzzle is not tagged as cryptic." I'm not sure exactly what that means. Can anyone help? Thanks!

I've been meaning to add a bit of explanation to that warning. Your puzzle has "unchecked" squares - squares w/ only an across clue (like the I in DIGIT) or only a down clue. That's totally normal in cryptics but usually frowned upon in regular crosswords. So if you add the tag "cryptic" to your puzzle the warning won't appear. Or you can just ignore it!

Ah, so that's what "unchecked" means! Thanks! I guess I'll just ignore the warning, since I don't think my puzzles officially count as cryptics...

Some of the letters are not "checked" (do not appear in two entries) — like either "i" in 1A. This is generally a no-no in non-cryptic crosswords.
But this is a cryptic crossword with a classic cryptic grid, so that's totally fine. You just want to add a "tag" that it's a cryptic — you can do that either for new puzzles or previously published puzzles (using the "edit" function).
Please let me know if you have further questions (here or on Discord)!

Thanks for the clarification! I'll probably just leave it untagged, since "cryptic" seems like an inaccurate tag.

Nice, reminds me of Frank Lewis cryptics!

This comes on a folded, large sheet of paper (and it's hard to refold it the same way again.) / Or it's seen on the screen of your phone as you travel, the phone saying where you should turn (yes, and when!).
              3. 6A
From the middle of this word, you can dive or you can dent, depending on which way you steer. / The following is true in more ways than one: The answer should be rather clear.

This word for proportion should rhyme with 5-Down. It doesn't, though, forcing me to say / The word, as it is, is simply not rational! (Though rational in part, looked at the right way...)

A river of water up in the mountains -- not great for swimming or canoeing upon... / Alas, in a century, thanks to us humans, this creeping cold river may well be long gone.

Does this describe a person who's most like a person who fills in for you while you are away? / "No!" Shakespeare cries. "It's a word for a storm! I mean, you know... like, in the sense of my play!"
