          Very nice! Great cryptic cluing and I loved the aha moment when the name and cartesian axes coalesced. However, I would have expected "RENE DESCARTES" to also be an acceptable meta answer.

            Thanks! Clearly everyone is much better at cryptics than I am because I could never solve my own puzzle in three minutes. Also, adding RENE is a very good point! To be honest, this wasn't really intended to be a meta, I just wanted to make sure people noticed the hard work of sticking the name in there. Since you did that, let's call it a win!
