Alas, I cannot; I can't read Tamil myself, and so I've only read the works of the authors I know in English. But I'd definitely recommend the writer and politician C. Rajagopalachari for history and religion, and A. K. Ramanujan for literary analysis, original poetry, and translations of classic texts.
