Fun puzzle although there may be some confusion with the horizontal AMs.

Top of the mornings, not adjacent to them. :)

Well, my first thought was to find the 2 letters “on top” of the horizontal “am”s because that’s how I write & read “am”, horizontally. Got the letters “Gicate”. So then I looked at the vertical “am”s.
Whoa. That came out of nowhere...is there a relationship to the puzzle?

Draft notices dating back to World War II began: "Greeting. You are hereby ordered to report for induction. . . " (I had it wrong; I thought it was "Greetings," but it's just "Greeting.")
The draft having been gone for nigh 50 years, not too many of us might know that (including this 53-y.o.)

"Greetings" was the title of a 1968 film about a guy trying to avoid the draft. In 1968, I think that most people seeing that title would have guessed what the reference was.
The director was Brian de Palma (you might know of him), and the main character was played by Robert De Niro (ditto). They were not at all famous then. It was the first or maybe second feature-length film for both of them. Unlike a lot of De Palma's later films, it did not take itself seriously.

Good way to start a Sunday. Top of the morning! Thanks!
Another nice one Will. You are trying to make me believe I am good at this...well I know better! But I do like a Pandora solve when I am flailing with everything else!
I email out solution explanations to subscribers of my mailing list every week - you can join the mailing list and browse older solutions at PandorasBlocks.org!

>Everything you needed to solve last week's puzzle was in the title, "Top of the Morning". There were 9 "mornings" in the puzzle, represented by the letters AM in the down answers, and taking the "top" of those mornings (the letters immediately above them) yielded the meta answer: GREETINGS. And "greetings" could of course be used instead of "Top of the morning".
