I really like the idea for this puzzle (and love the silliness of TOMYTOES), but it breaks a number of general rules for crosswords (disconnected grid, unchecked squares, clues that don't grammatically match their entries). That could be an intentional choice, but it makes the solving experience a little harder. You could look at the other contest entries as an example to see what I mean, or this excellent guide by the NYT. Good effort though!
