The answer to the meta is suggested by something that happens three times in the grid
If you will allow me to get political, here's a meta puzzle that speaks to this time of year here in Australia. The answer to the meta is suggested by something that happens three times in the grid. Answer & explanation: https://www.xword-muggles.com/viewtopic.php?p=119052#p119052
Check out "The MOAT Mini Pack of Marching Bands" here: https://www.ephesusscroll.com/about/interest4.html. US$5 gets you 7 Marching Bands which, hard enough on their own, now contain metas too. And once again there's a mega-meta!
Took a couple of wrong guesses, but then it finally made sense to me.

It’s always good to learn something.

Good one! I cheated a little and looked up “Jan 26 for Australia “! But I like how the grid played out!

I’m thankful for Crosshare because it let me try a few different answers, any of which seemed appropriate. It is indeed fun to learn about Australia through your puzzles. Thanks, Ben!

I thought it was Austrailia Day and when that was incorrect, I learned that Invasion Day was an alternative and it fit. Having visited Australia, I understand the feeling.

A win-win for me. Fun and I learned something!

My first guess was wrong becauseI had to look it up, and Australia Day came several lines above Invasion Day. I can't imagine how something called Invasion Day might be celebrated, or should I say, it's fun to imagine how something called Invasion Day might be celebrated.
I was hitting all around it but did not put Invasion and Day together. Silly me, January 26th, though listed as AUSTRALIA DAY is also listed as INVASION DAY in many spots, I should have inferred from Ben's post (the "political" aspect) that he meant another name for Jan 26th. Turns out I probably have some Australian relatives because some of my family (British side) emigrated (or probably were sent) to Australia. Thanks for the puzzle and the lesson Ben.

Once I confirmed on google that Jan 26 was a holiday in Australia having something to do with the British discovering or first settling there in 1788 (as indicated by 24A) - given the meta prompt plus 35A and 50A, I decided I had to then to google to find out what aborigines thought about the holiday to see if that connected with the the prompt, which it did.
Though I did pick up a warning from some comments in the Tuesday Muggles meet-up that I had to go beyond the obvious answer, which helped keep me from falling into your trap for the unwary who ignored that DAY was intruding into the three theme answers.
Interesting way to inform non-Aussie folks about the controversy over Australia Day.
Delightful to do a puzzle with no baseball in it. Very much needed the 46A hint My first guess at the meta was "aussie aussie aussie"!

I came back to this after originally entering various forms of Survival Day -- something online mentioned a "day break" ceremony by aboriginals and used that name. Got called away, and then eventually read an article in the newspaper on the 26th that called it Invasion Day, which of course is what the "day"s are doing.
Very nice apropos puzzle, Ben!

First time getting the meta! Being Australian probably helped... Maybe I'm missing something but I think there is a misspelling of Phillipa Soo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phillipa_Soo) for the 11 down clue.
