A gogen is a 5x5 grid made of the 25 letters of the alphabet A-Y (not Z). The across clues give you some position of the letters. The down clues show words that can be made by moving from cell to cell in the grid to make the word (this includes diagonally).

I’ve been enjoying these, but also wondering how you make them? It seems difficult not only to guarantee a unique solution, but to provide enough information to solve it from the starting grid without being a supercomputer!
Usually I pick some letters to use as the highlights and come up with some long words to fit into the grid to then get progressively shorter words to cover every letter without any nuanced positions. It is trial and error, and this is not the first iteration (there were some failed attempts) but managed to work out in the end. Thank you!
