I only saw 4 CLs at first and was trying to parse FAUXSTES. Fake saints? St. Patrice? Then I saw the 5th one. This was clever and fun! Thanks for stepping up to the plate upon request.

I LOVED it!!! I knew the mechanism almost immediately, but the answer, Rolling Stones cover band, cubic zirconia...then it hit me what day it was. Nice ending flourish my friend.

Thanks for the puzzle - which I did after dinner of, naturally, corned beef (cooked in Guinness), cabbage with onions and boiled potatoes, all washed down with a Smithwick's Red....delightful but BOY am I full and also tired. Must have been too much cabbage (or perhaps it was the second Smithwick's).

Add me to the head slapping group. I refused to give up because so many had solved. I struggled to see this even though I chose green highlighter for the CL's!

I think I was thrown off by the intro. I misinterpreted the "simple email" as meaning that the meta would not be themed for St. Patrick's Day. In revisiting the quote, the opposite was implied! Still a great aha moment. Maybe even better this way.

Ow. (head slap). Oh man I was just all over the internet to figure out if the Rolling Stones used pseudonyms, because of 4D and 34D (stones, realnames). Then I was trying to figure out how to express Blarney in 9 letters — cuz that’s pretty full of it too. In fact, you could say it’s a sham. (Actually figured it out by googling “fake rocks St. Patricks day” and several results pictured shamrocks.). This was really clever — don’t know why I found it so hard!

Catching up on x-words before hitting the beach . . . . Good one Wendy (as usual).
