  I've seen 3A before There's an extraneous "in" in 1A, but I like the wordplay. 1D is nice and tricky too

  Stuff like 1D always throws me because it's taking "scam university" as a single thing, whereas my mind wants to read it as a word for "Head of scam" with a U from university being brought down. I really liked 4A, and the split of "art? Messy" in 2D.

  One query about 5A: wouldn't [George Bernard's loss] be SHAW'S+L?

    hm. I'll admit this puzzle wasn't my greatest but it can't always be winners, so SHAWS+L would have been more apt. Thanks for the note on that.
