I'm still not a fan of the indirect anagramming in 1A and 5AALPS and VERSE respectively, but I did like those surfaces.
I really liked 4A, although I do wonder if [the border of Yemen] indicates only Y or if it indicates YM. A possible military workaround could've been [Yemeni front] or something like that. 1D and 3D are also very solid, with the former having a great misdirect with [service] and the latter having a great definition in [chat face-to-face].
By contrast, I'm not sure how 2D works. I want [teen] to be a T that is being contained or [abducted] by [Former partner], but not sure what to make of LAER. At any rate, fun puzzle!

I just finished this and 2D was the one I didn’t quite get either. My best guess at the moment is that it’s supposed to be LATTER -T? But I might’ve gone with something like “disowns” in that case
