It turns out plopping FROWN down at 1 Across isn't ideal for filling the rest of the puzzle, although I came close to rationalizing FANTA being a gift giver. Very nice puzzle, and I was happy to see a real "tag" clue/answer instead of "I'M IT," which is in lots of puzzles and basically no one every says.
