Meta Prompt
The answer to this contest is an American First Lady.
This is inspired by and based on Mike Shenk’s WSJ crossword contest from February 17, 2023.
While solving, I had an idea what the mechanism was going to be. It wasn’t, so I decided to try to make one where it is.
You will almost certainly need google to solve this meta.

      That was very clever.
      Your grid and cluing were excellent. You have a knack for these.
      I kind of wonder why on earth were you using the same clues and idea of the contest but when I figured what was going on it was excellent!
      (Did have to wikipedia a LONG way to find the proper first lady....)

                        I also went down the maiden name rabbit hole for WSJ. Especially since long answers end with names, and 8D ends with "Miss"
