    Thanks for the feedback! This is the second crossword I'm ever created, and in retrospect, it might have taken me a lot less time to fill the grid if I had made the plot independent of the black squares by doing it entirely in highlights instead.

      Impressive thematic density for your second grid! All rules are meant to be broken (as I myself often do), but unchecked squares [along with naticks] are generally avoided. In another world, you could've increased the grid size a little to ensure all cells are checked, and give yourself more space to emphasise the diagonal. I'm any case, it's a fun mathematical theme - keep it up!
