Having a bit of trouble with 1A (I see how it means “crooked” but the cryptic bit I don’t get). Same with 4A - I can tell Gable is the definition but what does the rest point to? Would appreciate any help, thank you!
1A: A person who knows a lot about something is called a "wonk" (often a political wonk, but it doesn't have to be) and unknown is "y" as in math
4A: the gable of a house is the end of it (I think, specifically, the triangular part that's sort of surrounded by the pitch of the roof; and there's the actor Clark Gable
