The answer to the meta is just a number, apparently
Term 2 starts today in Australia; at least, it does at my school. But something else is happening this week. You'll have to complete the grid to find out what. The answer to the meta is just a number, apparently. Answer & explanation: https://www.xword-muggles.com/viewtopic.php?p=202937#p202937
Check out "The MOAT Mini Pack of Marching Bands" here: https://www.ephesusscroll.com/about/interest4.html. US$5 gets you 7 Marching Bands which, hard enough on their own, now contain metas too. And once again there's a mega-meta!

I apparently need a remedial math course, stumbling as I did! In the meantime, Ben, please enjoy all blessings on your special day!
Well I tried to make you turn 1000 this week but to no avail. I entered AGE and BIRTHDAY because of course AGE is just a number. I figured it was your birthday you were talking about (only you Aussies say HIP HIP HOORAY after singing Happy Birthday) and when you said it was happening later this week, well that is only in Australia because here it happens the beginning of NEXT week, since as you know we not only do date and measurements differently we also start our week with Sunday (and people think Aussies are contrarians - HAH!). It wasn't Anzac day or Australia day (neither happened 999 years ago, but it seemed like a break from Britain was hinted at (Harry and Megan).
I just could not get over that 999, and when it was twice well it MUST be important. But WAIT you have had some maths related puzzles in the past, and 54, well he could be 54 (darn kids!!!), so let's try that.
Yep, so "Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Ben, Happy Birthday to you - HIP HIP HOORAY!
Thanks, Tom. We lived os for a while and I worked in a multi-cultural office. When someone had a birthday, after everyone finished singing the song, I yelled "Hip hip" and then my wife and I were the only ones to respond with "Hooray", which definitely petered out. Slightly embarrassing. From them on we only did the hip hip hoorays when it was an Aussie's birthday.
Gosh, it says "add" right in there and it still took me a bit to piece things together. Even when there's a big clue to your age right in your username!

Who’s 54–your parents? Oh wait—BC71. I get it. I was in high school then.

I see that "71" and think, oh, Ben is just a few years younger than I am, so he must be late 30s, right? Not sure how we got to 2025.
lolololol I promise I didn't really believe the sixty-nine I tried first. Wasn't until I came back to it that I thought to just add them. Fun one, thanks.

An early Happy Birthday, Ben! It took me a while to figure out what to do with all those NINEs (at least I had fewer than 54 incorect submissions LOL) A fun puzzle, thanks!
I took the 71 out of benchin71 and subtracted it from 2025 = 54. QED.

so clever! didn’t occur to me.

wow that was a lot of guessing, and almost didn’t try this one because no way do you look 54!! I was missing the circles and sevenof ones (thought SEVENOF might be some kind of russian last name, and CIRCLES answered clue 19 fine without the nine), so I had thought it was 36 (which seemed younger than I would guess, but not by much!). Anyhoo.. thanks for the fun puzzle and many happy returns!
I had you older than Methuselah briefly also -- trying to add the Roman numerals in the grid. Finally realized, duh, 6 X NINE. Also, the Roman numerals in LIVES (LIV) continued to speak to me, and I remembered something from a few years ago about you being confused whether you were turning 50 or 51 (or something like that) so I knew I was in the right ballpark. Forgot all about your your username! HB, BC71!
