      Nice one, favorites were SUSHI and SUGGEST (very nice acrostic)... I was almost done in by DISTANT - with the crossers being D.S...T and the clue of food, I first thought of DESSERT as a homophone of being deserted far away... ding dang hiddens make me feel dumb... and I don't need any help in that regard

        Great! Glad you liked it and thanks for the feedback! I thought SUSHI might be a bit too cryptic, but I'm happy you got it and liked it. DISTANT is indeed tricky – probably needs more cross letters to be fair.

          V Thanks for a very entertaining cryptic! I realise that I'm useless at spotting acrostics and hidden words! 22D Unsure about "served" as a hidden word indicator; "served in" perhaps. I've always seen "served" as an anagrind. Suggestion: "Food is tantalisingly served in the back of beyond"? 17D Masterful! 23A ONE HALF is two words; (3,4)

            Glad you liked it! agree 'served' is a bit lof a stretch. 'Serves' would be ok, but doesn't fit here... ah 'serving' would work i think
