Great puzzle, Will! My first idea for the mechanism proved correct but because of your clever choice of examples, I explored several other ideas before coming back to it. Kudos!

Figured out the mechanism immediately but took a while to find the first loop, and more time to find the other cleverly hidden ones. Needed Google to find the last fruit (RAMBUTAN).

I don't spend much time in the cereal aisle. I guessed the mechanism immediately. (I think there was a Mike Shenk puzzle based on Cadillacs that did something similar.) And then I didn't realize how the answer was related to the title and mechanism. The relevant bit of knowledge was buried deep in my brain and it took several moments to get there.

Never heard of a “rambutan”. After looking at a picture, not sure I'd want to eat it!

I must say, I was initially sidetracked by the "AP-PLE" that "looped" from the bottom of column 1 to the top, googling a lot of non-existing fruit names, but was rescued by a MULBERRY

Had to get a hint but finally figured it out. Made me laugh remembering old commercials on Saturday morning cartoons. Yes, I am that old.

When I saw Fruit Loops, toucan was my first guess. But it took me until now to figure it out correctly! Nice one, Will!

That was tough - kept think I needed to move entries around to make loops, like PALS / PLEB to make APPLE.

The mechanism was fun! Found MULBERRY first, and once I had T, A, and N I could backsolve.

I opened a new box of Froot Loops this morning and that must have been my "lucky charm"!

I always hated word search homework as a kid. In metas I can respect them for the effort required by the constructor in finding words to align just so, to give the solver a challenge in finding the hidden message. This is a good one, and I think we all appreciate your efforts.
