        So much great fill! Despite the anti-weed rhetoric, THE DEVIL'S LETTUCE undeniably is kale. "The SOT-Weed Factor" is an old (1960), funny, post-modernish book by John Barth. I read it back in college and remember really enjoying it. Any way, an entertaining puzzle, as always.

          That was fun, but I don't get 5D. I get SHE/HER and THEY/THEM, but I've never heard of SHE/THEY as a pair.
