My name is Ben Chenoweth, and I'm currently a teacher at Donvale Christian College, in Melbourne, Australia. I've worked overseas with Wycliffe Bible Translators, and in Australia as a secondary and tertiary teacher. (I was the Educational Designer / eLearning Coordinator at Melbourne School of Theology for four years, and taught at Eastern College for some of that time.)
My main interests are music, writing, theology and various combinations of those. I have a number of other interests, including reading, crosswords (especially cryptics and metas), and computer games. I also enjoy programming. My About Me website (https://www.ephesusscroll.com/about) was put together as an HTML/CSS demonstration for my Year 10 Computing class. Another interesting programming project is my EPUB Metadata Editor (an open-source project on GitHub).
Joni Mitchell's song "Both Sides Now" is a beautiful song with amazing lyrics full of deep melancholy. On a personal level, I actually have a childhood memory of my father playing the guitar and singing this song. Only problem is I misheard the…
This was a late-night meta idea that I dropped into my meta notebook so that I could sleep without thinking about it. But I still thought about it! Then, in the morning, I worked out the mechanics and the meta answer, and then just went right on and…
This puzzle is brought to you by the "probably should have left this one in the ideas book!" school of meta construction. For xword-muggle patrons, it's definitely more of a MEOW than a MOAT! The answer to the meta is a 2-word phrase. Answer…
Oh no, it's time for another "week 4" puzzle! Having said that I'm hoping you will exclaim "what a relief!" after you get to the answer without too much trouble. (At the very least I hope you have less trouble than my daughters trying to get tickets…
I'm desperately trying to finish this crossword before the Matildas play Sweden in the bronze medal match of the FIFA Women's World Cup. (There's a time marker for those of you who were wondering how far ahead I constructed this one!) That has…
This one came to me while listening to a Sunday sermon! That said, I don't think you will be able to work out what the seed entry was. The answer to the meta is a 4-letter verb. Answer & explanation: https://www.xword-muggles.com/viewtopic.php?p…
What do you do when you're too sick to go to work, but not sick enough to be in bed all day? If you're anything like me you decide to construct a meta crossword. The answer to the meta is the title of a 2024 folk/Americana album suggested by what the…
I have worked retail in the past. In fact, my first job was as a summer casual in the local Kmart department store. They put me in the toiletries and makeup section, because, as a male, I would be less likely to want to steal the stock! This puzzle…
It's time for another "week 5" challenge! This one will have it all: obscure clues (thank goodness for Google!) and a grid that will probably prove to be quite challenging in places, but hopefully there's a fun meta at the end! The answer to the meta…
In the lead up to this puzzle going live I discovered that I hadn't written any introduction! So now I have to try and remember how this puzzle came into being more than 12 months down the track. And I have to confess that I can't precisely recollect…
