wonderful theme! all of the theme entries are very nice finds--i particularly liked how inventive WHOSOUTHERE was! the clue for CARDINALPOINT was also really funny, and the angle for STOLEN was great.
there were a few tough crossings that i had to use google for (ERITU/HRE, TONYA/NYX). also--you have a small typo in the clue for UFO.
other than that, this was a smooth puzzle! very nice job, loved getting that "click" moment where i realized the shaded squares would be directions.

Thanks so much, I really appreciate the feedback! I made this one a while ago, but only just discovered this great site, so in retrospect there are defintely a few things I would probably want to rework if I were constructing it now-like some of the more obscure 3 letter answers you mentioned. Also thanks for pointing out the typo, I went in and fixed that.
So glad you enjoyed it, Cheers!

Fun, thank you! I liked the theme; 17A and 50A struck me as a little non-standard (vs. HETERODOXY and AWESTRUCK), but totally gettable. FYI tiny typo in the clue to 22A.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! And I did go ahead and fix that typo, good catch - thank you :)

Thought I'd try a full-size as downs-only, that was fun! Picking the theme early certainly helped. Thanks :)

A nice combination of uncommon fill and mostly inferable cluing - better than a lot of NYT puzzles I've done lately; cheers!
