7A reminded me of Georges Lemaître — who was both a priest and the originator of the theory of an expanding universe (which later became the “Big Bang”). But I don’t think he was a monk — and my initial search confirmed this. But it also made me aware of John Westwyk, who was both (and did other things besides).
