  I suspect this may prove a difficult one, and I can only apologise where this difficulty stems from shortcomings on the part of your humble setter. I'll do my best to justify my transgressions in the wash-up below.

  ACROSS. 1A 5D. "Divorce" = SPLIT + "results" = ENDS. 6A. Homophone of "heavy metal" = LEAD. 8A. Reversal of "clergyman" = DEAN around "king" = K. 9A. "A" plaintext, preceded by "note" = TE. 10A. Insertion of "fuel" = OIL in "vessel" = SS.

  DOWN. 2D. To be parsed as "object subject verb": "soldiers" = PLATOON minus "active" = ON. 3D. "tuber gives out cards" = I DEAL. 4D. Subtraction of "drugs" = E/E from "make psychedelic patterns appear" = TIE-DYE. 7D. Hidden in "weEKEnd."
