Thank you! Some of the clues were very fun.
Since you asked, Crosshare's rating is currently 1854 which is definitely on the high end — maybe commensurate with an NYT Saturday.
I think the reason is not that it is "difficult" but that there are some very obscure entries and they are not clued as "gimmes” (which is quite possible for some), and also some others that I think are on the edge of “phoniness”.
Some examples of tough cluing that makes the entries obscure, with alternatives:
    • PEART: Rush drummer Neil
    • AEI: Conservative think tank, for short
    • RAKSIN: (no idea)
    • ACLU: (they were an amicus curiae participant, but the NAACP was in the lead)
    • SHIN: Leg part
    Some examples of “phonies”:
    • AAE — but your clue helped
    • REE
    • DESMO
    • EAE
    • SOUH
