    Thanks for solving Oliver! Ad infinitum, meaning without end (in retrospect, I dislike this clue; it feels like a stretch). I'm not sure about F's legitimacy as an abbreviation... But in an academic context it certainly denotes failure. I really appreciate your feedback!

  Whoops! Put ON END in for 5A's "ad infinitum" instead of the correct answer, and that kept me from getting 1D for far too long. I love the tone of 2D, I find 1A to be the right sort of absurd surface, and 4A is succinctly clever. It all looks good, keep it coming!
