2D: Yes, I erred by not including a clue for the lead G “GOES BIG”. I’ll have to fix that. I like the idea of GOES BIG as the alternative to “goes home.”
5A: Your points are well taken. I am trying to get a handle on the clue dosage. I wonder if it is acceptable to have somewhat looser(?) clues when some of the other clues are rather obvious. I see “Prepares” as an acceptable synonym of SEASONS — certainly one seasons a cast iron skillet or firewood for use or for burning — but it certainly isn’t the 1st, 2nd or 3rd most common definition.
I appreciate the feedback and am open to knowing how I am erring and what I al getting right. Many thanks!

Thanks for the reply; in Chambers the nearest synonym for seasoning a skillet is "to temper" rather than "prepare". I'm sorry to harp on about it but it's important to be totally fair in clueing. Please accept this as advice, rather than criticism.
I still can't see how "goes home" is a synonym for GOES BIG.
