Nice one! Good for honing my logic puzzle skills :)
I misunderstood the rules. I thought it was a Queen placement puzzle, i.e. you couldn't put Q's in the same diagonal. But no, it's a star battle.

I read the rules wrong, but eventually got it. I originally thought that the adjacent/diagonal restriction was within a block (barred off region). But then I reread and figured it out.
