Very impressed with the jumbo! I enjoyed the theme and thought overall the fill was smooth. A few things that I noticed:
      • In the clue for 31A, I think you mean to refer to 18A (not 19A).
      • I didn’t feel like the clue for 40A quite fit the entry.
      • The entry for 15D is plural, but the clue is singular.
      • In 86D his surname is VARGAS LLOSA; I think you could fix it by cluing as a fill-in-the-blank.

Jumbos are exhausting to construct 🙃

At this point, I can only imagine! Any tips about (a) which parts were hardest (grid design, fill, cluing) or (b) how you made it through?

honestly more than anything I was wishing to be able to edit the word lists used for autofill. Mostly I kept autofill on so I could see if I messed something up, and I started with the most isolated corners that I could fill without having a lot of impacts on the rest of the grid (especially since that improved the autofill performance, since it ran incredibly slowly when it was trying to fill the huge grid before I got much filled out). Otherwise it was just my motivation that I really really wanted to fit in 68A without breaking it up.
