Constructor's Note
This puzzle does have a theme, but it only features in four (symmetrical) answers, and isn't particularly important to the solve. I think the puzzle is somewhat harder than many of my other cryptics, but hopefully not too much so!

        Got there in the end! 13A very enjoyable. I wrongly had GRAPPLE for GRAPNEL and that got me stuck for a fair bit.

          Thanks tuber! Once I had the basic idea for it, that clue took me longer to write than most of the rest the puzzle put together, so I'm delighted you liked it.
