  Fun, thank you! Two small suggestions:

  • For the multi-part theme entry, I think a better clue for 1A and 7A would be "See 5D"
  • For 2D, I see what you did (and I am glad to know about the book); but because the title starts with the word "On", it felt dupe-y. A totally different cluing angle would be bridge — perhaps "(Bridge) bid showing a balanced hand, for short"?

  Fun fact: Emily Dickinson wrote her poems in ballad meter, which matches "The Yellow Rose of Texas”.
