      I thought about including actual clues for TALLY and ACING, maybe with the clues for MENTALLY and MENACING in brackets, but maybe that would make the meta clues stand out too much?

        really clever puzzle with just the right amount of sneakiness to it... i stared at ACING the whole time since I didn't understand the clue and kept thinking AC was abbreviation for something I was unfamiliar with...
