Sneaky fun. I was at Woodstock so I submit for extra credit.

I turned down a ride with 5 of my hippie friends who were headed out right then, and said they had room for one more. Maybe next to our band turning down an offer to open for Mellencamp in 1979, my biggest regret.

Yeah, and I was going to go (lived only 40 miles away in NE Pennsylvania) but didn't because I heard it was going to rain...who wants to spend money for a music festival ticket ($20 was a FORTUNE then) and then sit there in the rain.... I've made dumber decisions, they just don't readily come to mind.

Al, in your youth, did you play much softball? In mine, I played on and managed numerous teams. We had an unwritten rule: Play your best hippies in left-center and right-center.

I did, and well out of my youth as well. I usually played 2nd base... and we actually did have an all-hippie team. We lost one game because our entire outfield had taken... mind-enhancing fungi? ... and when the ball was hit to center, they all just stood and pointed to the ball and laughed. The batter raced around first, then -- seeing what was happening -- thought time must have been called and kind of walked home. The ump had to eventually come out and retrieve the ball. Good times. Bad team.

I was a little too young to attend the original Woodstock (age 9), but I did go to the 25th anniversary celebration in Saugerties, NY in 1994. I hitched a ride with 6 young women in a Winnebago - one of whom eventually became my wife! There were an estimated 250,000 attendees, and it rained all 3 days. Good times and good memories.

As you probably know, Woodstock 99 was held about 10 miles from my house, and on the (former) Air Base where I worked at the time. Not quite the Peace and Love show as were its forebears.

Well, how apropos and HELLO a day late. Fun puzzle that actually had me looking for WORLD HOLIDAY. I'm thinking "well Christmas is certainly, but so is New Year...what to do what to do. Finally I said, "hey stop complicating this and see if there is a WORLD HELLO DAY" turns out I was not being "Bay touching Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Maine" "Occurring in the mind" enough. Thanks for some levity Al - and I LOVED the "Assign a star to a movie", I had a heck of a time trying to make CAST work 😁

A day late, but Hello, Al and All. Had no idea there was such a day, but it sounds like a good start! My daughter laughs each time I try to pronounce ACAI correctly.
                          Never going to happen.

I didn't solve it till today, a day after Nov. 21. So instead of Get Together and the Youngbloods, I guess it's that Holiday in Cambodia group.

Hello!! Two days late and a dollar short. Funny, I thought about WHIRLED -> WORLD but just didn't look far enough elsewhere. There's still a red mark on my forehead from my reaction on reading the nudges.
                                Very clever!

I had my eye on whirled/world also -- but with it being right in the middle, I first made the mistake of trying to make words around it rotate. Spinning werewolves -- far out, man!
                                    Hello Everyone and Thanks, Al!
                                    • hoover 3s · 2022-11-23T20:30:21.919Z
My problem was in trying to make the bottom row into HOLIDAY instead of the more aurally pleasing HELLO DAY, since CELEBRATE WORLD HELLO DAY didn't make any sense. But I guess it does after all. So I tried all variations of EARTH DAY, 4/22, April 22, etc.

I also celebrate that day, so...

I interpreted the last line as "holiday" and was even slightly annoyed at the mispronunciation (surely the first word could have been HALL or HAUL or even HOWL!), but couldn't come up with an unequivocal world holiday to submit, though I tried Earth Day (April 22). It took until today for the penny to drop. Thanks for the great puzzle, sorry I didn't do it justice!

I thought the last word was “holiday”. I started cycling through all the major world holidays until it clicked.
