Bulk buying is buying at scale (so 'scale like' = BULK + Y), and bulky can mean substantial, i.e. major. Explainer for 2d coming in response to Guy below.

I still don't see how this works. Are you saying that SCALE = BULK? And if you want to use -like to be +Y, you need a question mark to indicate that you're not making an actual word with that meaning.

Could you please explain 2D. I get that a burn is a type of river and that setter usually refers to I, but i don't see how recovery gets shortened to rver... Or have I just completely got the wrong end of the stick!
Of course! You're right with the definition, burn = RIVER.
The apostrophe is doing some interesting work in this clue. 'Setter's' can mean belonging to the setter, which is me, so some something I have = IVE.
That just leaves R and R for 'recovery'... which hopefully explains itself!

Great! Very clever.

I don't think this explanation works. "I've" is not something you have, and "I've" doesn't mean "belonging to you/setter, but fortunately "Setter has" can be IVE.
