Some slightly funny, and some slightly bananas clues in this one.

I apologise in advance if you haven't seen the type of wordplay in one of the clues before.

5A Def A lifetime Wordplay Remove edges from lager
6A Def Sound Wordplay A hidden (from)
8A Def Rent Wordplay Remove 'E' and 'S' (directions) from pages, and reverse
9A Def Melodies Wordplay SS (ship) around G 'key' and ON 'working', but G is AFTER on
1D Def Passes Wordplay I believe this is called a reverse engineered clue, the answer is wordplay to the fodder in the definition. Here highschool is 'hs', and H and S (Hands) is the answer
2D Def 'I', as in self Wordplay Go (set off) after E (ecstasy)
3D Def Monarch's rule Wordplay Homophone of rain (a downfall of water)
4D Def Measures Wordplay Double-definition with treads
5D Def Drop Wordplay Anagram of gas
