Saw I,C, and E in BRIOCHES and NIECE (and of course in ICESKATERS) and thought.. oh, use all the letters in the openings between the ICE letters! O-H-N-E. Yeah… nice try. Loved the cluing! (Is there a backstory to the long Panera charged lemonade clue? 1/5 the caffeine of a 30oz is some weird deets!)

Indeed SAD. I was trying to use the clues that started with C, O, L, D (there are LOTS), words with refence to cold (ICE, COLD, FREEZE), and finally I saw MBA and ISA and thought "OK those are one letter off" So I then wrote out all the two letter pairs in a column and that is when I said "DOH!!!!!" Nicely hidden Will, and even with ICESKATERS as an egg of sorts (you might have thrwn in HOWE or FLYERS ). Thanks for the puzzle.

Tried to submit the MGWCC answer here, which didn't work. I'd been puzzling a bit, bu then after clearing ice off our front walkway, I took another look at the themers and realized I could have used one of those...It was back to the basics time, as advertised. Thanks.

ZOOMS ALONG = BREEZES ALONG / COLD BREEZE MARINE BIOLOGIST = OCEAN BIOLOGIST / COLD OCEAN OLFACTORY NERVES = NOSE NERVES / COLD NOSE ICE SKATERS = EDGE SKATERS / COLD EDGE BONE! That actually helped me get to the answer. I am not sure why.

lol even with all the comments about overthinking it took me forever to...not overthink it. Kept trying to do stuff with first words or parts thereof.
