  Nice - 1D i have not seen a deletion clue without directly or indirectly telling the solver what letters need to be deleted and having only one crossing letter but the definition helped

    It's probably unclear how that clue works, it's double definition since dies randomly decide things

      Oh sure! So you're clueing a noun with an adjective which my testers tell me is bad. I think something like 'They randomly decide to perish' is maybe better?

          But now the tenses don't match. Maybe make it an anagram. "Side changes and perishes." Or something similar that has a better surface reading.
