This is an exercise for setter and solver. Deletion is the word of the day. Each clue will have a deletion indicator (and some may have additional indicators). I am familiar with two basic kinds of Deletions: Letter Deletions and General Deletions. Letter Deletions are focused on excising one or a couple letters. These usually identify the target letters by their location within a word; e.g, “headless” may indicate first letter deletion, “stopped short” may indicate last letter deletion and “heartless” may indicate middle letter(s) deletion. General Deletion indicators may direct the solver to delete a whole word or phrase, but may also just call for deletion of a specific letter. General Deletions often identify their targets with abbreviations (e.g., “lacking gold” may indicate deleting AU) or directly (e.g., “leaving me behind” may indicate deleting ME). I hope you enjoy!

Nice puzzle, I've been starting to play with deletions where all letters of a word are removed (which makes finding a base phrase comprised of two interlaced phrases a challenge, but worth it!) Cheers.
