Does the "perhaps" bit of the 8A clue indicate to change "MAE" to "MAY"?
I'm new to cryptics so a lot of things just woooosh over my head.

This one was a bit tricky, normally perhaps indicates a loose definition but here "perhaps" was the literal clue for "may," so "mae" to the audience means use it as a homophone

          Ah, that makes sense, thanks.
