New variety puzzle (sorry) that I’m tentatively calling “Rank & File”, though I am open to better name suggestions in the comments. Each row and column has one or more clues whose answers will be entered in order to fill their respective row/column. You won't know how many letters each answer has, and that’s the whole gimmick.
