You mean based on the way the clue is worded? If that's what you mean, I believe the current clue is correct. "They" can be used to address a single person (see MW def. 3), and "tool" is also singular.
Sometimes, I sneak in Canadianisms just for you, Mark! Other times, they organically find their way into the theme, like the one here did!

Quick solve, very entertaining!

Now this little ditty will be running through my mind on my health walk this afternoon. Cool!

Geez I was getting frustrated that the title of the song wasn’t working. Serves me right for not reading the meta-prompts and knowing what I was looking for. Thanks for the earworm Will - This one brings me back to high school :-)

But the title of the song is the answer

Silly puzzle if you have never heard of the song

I always liked that song!

Didn't know the song (gasp) but ended up here anyway and had fun while doing so!
Thanks, Will!

Fun one! Thanks.

Not as easy for me, apparently, since I have never heard of it. Evening after listening, I didn't recognize it. Fun puzzle, though. Thanks, Will!!
Fun and easy! Really like how you worked in the "O".

i actually knew a girl in high school whose family landline was 867-5309 (and we didn't use area codes back then, so that's all you dialed). Her name was Cheryl.

I have this 45 record. And I once gave a short quiz in algebra class with the answers 8, 6, 7, -5, 309.

Pretty great... could not get it at all yesterday, fixated on seemingly missing numbers. But then I read the numbers aloud this morning
Louis D 3s · 2021-12-06T18:43:38.738Z
Took me longer than expected. However, after coming back to it, I read the numbers in order and instantly got it... I didn't notice that O was one of the "numbers" until after I solved it. Very nice!

So am I the only one who first tried this with including UNO as the missing "1" ?

Really enjoyed this puzzle!

I actually had this album. Tommy Tutone. Lost it with all my vinyl when my basement flooded during a hurricane. It rocked!

I needed Google. Now if it had been the Marvelettes . . .

Zero CANADA wouldn't be nearly so inspiring an anthem, wink.
I didn't know the song and didn't realize the solution was just as easy as looking up the sequence of numbers in order (including that sneaky 0...)
So, fun fact: If you consider OCANADA as a non-theme entry and then completely ignore the one asymmetric theme entry (SIXPACK) you're left with five numbers (3, 5, 7, 8, 9). If you take the words in those positions from the lyrics of O CANADA (our, and, land, true, patriot) and then UNSCRAMBLE the first letters, you do get a first name... PLATO. But of course that's waaaaay outside the (Pandora's) Box.
