Fairy Tale Butter

This probably dates me, but I remember this story being in a collection of fairy tales when I was a kid. No doubt a 1st edition.

It’s told in different ways, but each one involves the younger ones offering up the oldest one to save their own hides. Then, all of a sudden, it’s everyone lives happily forever after. If I were the oldest, I’d have some lifelong resentment to deal with. Thanks for solving.
