My first (serious) attempt at a cryptic crossword! All entries are spelt like they would be in British English. Feedback is greatly appreciated and I'm happy to provide any clue explanations.

Really good puzzle! Great words and well constructed clues. I really liked 3D, 9A, 7D, 27A, loads of them basically! There were a couple where I struggled to make full grammatical sense of the surface reading - 13A and 8A (in fact I still can't see how the cryptic bit of 8A works). Also the word 'in' in 1A was a bit confusing. Either it was backwards (argument is in angry daughter) or it was superfluous (angry, followed by daughter argument backwards). Regardless, these are all really minor things, and this was a strong puzzle for a first attempt! I look forward to the next one.
13A: In my head, "elect" is parsed as the noun, as in a politician visiting the construction site for a nuclear plant. I can see that it is worded weirdly though.
8D: This is a double definition, to be parsed as NOTICED and NOT ICED (like bar drinks)
1A: Yeah that's backwards oops I'll see if i can fix it.
Ah OK, 13A reads better now you've explained, and that explains the apostrophe as well! And 8D is entirely clear now. I blame my lack of imagination! Good clue.
this was a good challenge for me! you nailed the difficulty level imo. one or two of the clues bothered me but i'd say the same about any given newspaper-published cryptic :P - BLOODTYPE and MAIZE were particularly clever
