Five Ws, but No "Why"?

◆◆ · By elevatorz89 · Published 2025-04-16T03:14:06.200Z

Constructor's Note
There's a Who or two, and perhaps a clue that'll make you go "What?" when you look at it. Where? In this crossword. Why? I don't know.
This is my first puzzle, so please go easy on me. I'm not sure if the puzzle is willing to extend the same generosity, though...

Might be inadvertently tagged cryptic. These are tricky, but cryptic means something different :)

I'm super new to this- what would qualify a puzzle as being a cryptic? I tagged the puzzle this way because the editor suggested it.

A cryptic crossword is one where the clue has two parts: definition and wordplay.
An example is, "Spanish is, confused parent circle concludes, a made up language (9)". The answer is "Esperanto".
"A made-up language" is the definition - it defines Esperanto. But there are lots of made-up languages, so the precise answer has to be found using the wordplay.
The Spanish word for "is" is "es".
"Confused" is a way of saying "all muddled about", and if you middle about the letters in "parent" you get "perant".
"O" is a circle, and it concludes the word.
For a crossword to be cryptic, it should have clues of that nature.
