Solution: The four entries that have clues with numbers in parentheses can become new words by adding PRO or CON (either for or against) to the beginning. 1A becomes PROTEST or CONTEST, both of which fit other clues- PROTEST = 8D, CONTEST = 20A. 63A is PROFESS = 26D and CONFESS = 34A. 65A is PRODUCT = 41A and CONDUCT = 44D. 10A is PROFUSE = 58A and CONFUSE = 61A. The first letters of these alternate entries, in grid order, spell VOCATION which also becomes different words by adding PRO/CON to the beginning.
Well, you did it again. I had this same idea for a pro/con puzzle, but I never finished constructing it. Glad to see the idea succeed! :D Well done, Laars.
