15A provided me with my rabbit trail for the day.
TIL: There are 4* sitting US Senators** born before the Golden Gate Bridge opened (May 27, 1937). That's just bananas. We need to normalize training up new leaders and then retiring! I have nothing against older people in general, of course, but it seems like we should aim for a liiiittle closer to the average US population (currently 38.3 years).
*They are: Dianne Feinstein (1933, D-CA), Chuck Grassley (1933, R-IA), Richard Shelby (1934, R-AL), and Jim Inhofe (1934, R-OK)
**The Senate has the oldest average age (64.3 years), but the US House of Representatives (avg. 58.4 years) still has 3 older than the bridge: Eddie Bernice Johnson (1935, D-TX), Grace Napolitano (1936, D-CA), and Bill Pascrell (Jan. 1937, D-NJ).
