Hey! Thanks for solving and I'm glad you enjoyed. I'm pretty new at making puzzles so still figuring out what works and what doesn't And this was one of my first ones so I don't blame you for being confused. It's a little wonky in retrospect.
The theme answers are HID and DEN. So it's a HIDDEN theme. The movie referenced is HIDDEN FIGURES which was about black female NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson (pictured above).
The title is CHECK YOUR CORNERS and I reference "stemming from the corners" in 31A. If you go from each of the four corners diagonally you get:
-- (FIGURE) IT OUT
-- (FIGURE) HEAD
-- (FIGURE) EIGHT
-- (FIGURE) SKATE
So there are "hidden figures." I tried to allude to it with the emojis, too.

Ooooh I see now. Clever. Maybe some shaded boxes would've helped. Either way, I absolutely love your puzzles so I've just been going through your entire catalog. It's really cool to see your growth as a constructor from this one to your most recent (this is coming from someone who has never constructed a good puzzle).
