Meta Prompt
The answer to the meta is a seven word phrase suggested by the grid
Aussie Steve Bradbury was the the first man to cross the line following a pile-up in the 1,000m short-track speed skating final at the Olympic Winter Games Salt Lake City 2002. He'd been in last place for most of the race. But when the other four crashed on the very last turn he managed to avoid them all, thus securing a famous victory, and Australia's first Winter Olympics gold medal ever. Can you do the same with this crossword? The answer to the meta is a seven word phrase suggested by the grid. Answer and explanation: https://www.xword-muggles.com/viewtopic.php?t=1237&p=70868#p70868
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here: https://www.ephesusscroll.com/about/interest4.html. US$10 gives you access to 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game. You won't quite know what to expect: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, sometimes all of those, and sometimes none! One thing is for sure, these are some of the more creative metas my brain has been able to come up with. And there's more: this time there's a mega-meta!

Very clever! I wonder if you hadn't highlighted SNATCH27AGuy Ritchie movie with Brad Pitt as a unintelligible boxer[------] and JAWS50DJames Bond henchman with some serious orthodontic work[----] if it might have made it more challenging... still, great meat/construction.

That was the one thing I wasn't sure about! I wanted the puzzle to be solvable, but by highlighting those two entries, it makes it possible to guess the answer outright, thereby missing the fun stuff. Once the week is over, I will edit these two clues and take out the hints!

I got the answer, but don't know why.

I couldn't solve the ICBM8DLong-range weapon (abbr.)[----] & MRE22AField ration (abbr.)[---] cross 😭 and TIMTAM26DYummy Australian treat that can be eaten by nibbling off two opposite corners, using it like a straw with hot coffee, and then slamming it into your mouth before all the chocolate melts (don't knock it until you try it!)[------] is so much better with milk!

Of course, you are totally right; and if you use milk the TIMTAM26DYummy Australian treat that can be eaten by nibbling off two opposite corners, using it like a straw with hot coffee, and then slamming it into your mouth before all the chocolate melts (don't knock it until you try it!)[------] lasts much longer. But there is something magical about that delicious combination of coffee and chocolate!
