Leftovers

Meta Prompt
Welcome to the first installment of my new puzzle series, Leftovers! Please enjoy! 🌟
How it works: First, identify the intentionally misleading clues, which will hint at a homophone of the grid entry as opposed to the actual grid entry. For example, the word CREWS could be clued as "Mission Impossible actor Tom," which instead hints at the word CRUISE.
Then, find the leftover letters, which are letters that are not shared by both words in a homophone pair. For example, the leftover letters in homophone pair CREWS-CRUISE would be W, U, and I, since W only appears in CREWS and U and I only appear in CRUISE.
Finally, the meta answer will be any Scrabble-dictionary valid unscrambling of the leftover letters. Have fun!

Fun twist! Why I thought I could make a three-letter word (when, if I understand the logic, there have to be an even # of letters since one is in each word), I don't know but I fixed it :-) Thanks for coming up with something new!

typo: the blog post presents a homophone pair with three leftover letters, not words!

thanks for playing! and there doesn't necessarily have to be an even number of letters; the blog post example shows an instance of 3 leftover words, and the homophone pair AISLE-ISLE has only one: A!

        Solution: Homophone Pair 1: SOARS-SORES, leftovers = A, E Homophone Pair 2: SEEDS-CEDES, leftovers = S, C
