Yep, he's a character on Bob's Burgers. Going for high and low art in one puzzle.

I don't believe that it has been broadcast in the UK.

It's worth searching out. It's an animated show that is silly and smart and life affirming in a way that a lot of "adult" animated shows aren't. My kids love it too.

1d had me beating around the bush too... and I was harried by 4a as well... Anyway, thanks for the puzzle sorry for the inconvenience
Good puzzle. In 1A, "confuses" suggests Abel is doing the confusing himself. I would suggest changing it to "confused". It wouldn't hurt the surface reading.

Thanks. "Confuses" could suggest that, but isn't it mostly about tense and when the confusion happened? If one continues to be confused or the situation remains confusing, then "confuses" would be accurate, no? The idea of the surface if that having a woman as Abel makes the story confusing. Mostly I chose "confuses" because it seemed to obscure a little what should be amagramed. Thanks for thinking about it though. I really appreciate it.
